Digitally re-produced and printed onto quality vinyl. All printed decals should be lacquered over for a professional and permanent finish.

Failure to apply the lacquer can result in premature wear to the print. Comprehensive instructions are available here on my web site, details of which will accompany the decals. Powder coating is without doubt a very tough finish, but can be difficult to adhere to, especially matt finishes.

Best to apply to a stove enamelled frame, by an experienced frame sprayer.

Set includes 2 x down tube 1 x seat tube 2 x vertical names plus worlds stripes at each end. Other colours may be available. This design is in orange with white edges. There were several versions of this one depending on year and what country the bike was destined for.

This is the French version from I believe early ? Set comprises of 2 x down tube handedseat tube, and head plus spare2 x TVT fork decals. Seen here on a silver background not included. I have kept the seat tube decals separate as fitting would be super difficult otherwise. Colours as shown only. II have noticed that there are other versions of these, possibly from different years, with slightly different graphics. This is the only version that I have.

If yours are not the same or do not have the same measurements, please contact me first before placing an order. I took this set from what I believe to be a very early and very rare Look model. The design is a full wrap printed panels and I do not advise using it with any later frames that have bottle cage eyes built into the frame, as very careful and exact holes would have to be cut for these. Also, the upper black section of the downtube may have to be removed as the down tube gear levers will present problems with fitting.

There were several versions of these produced, including my other version KG 86 The main difference between these two was the KG 86 Kevlar decal which on this version hadwhilst on the KG 86 had ''. Can be supplied in French version lettering. The carbon piece is inserted into a mould; after it is closed, the Platilon is inflated under high pressure and flattens the carbon piece against the walls of the mould. This technique enables better resistance to be gained, and the weight to be decreased, and is still used for the creation of certain pieces.

Ceramic fibres were also used in the KG96 to strengthen the braid made from carbon and kevlar. This new-generation frame had exceptional tension, rigidity and lightness for the time.

It was quickly adopted by professional teams Toshiba and Once, with whom a young up-and-coming Frenchman cut his teeth: a certain Laurent Jalabert. It was the beginning of a long collaboration between the Champion and the Nevers brand, a collaboration which goes on today. Digitally printed onto quality 70 micron vinyl. Set includes 2 x forks, 2 x chainstay, 2 x top tube. Very rare frame from the Cyrille Guimard stable.

The frame I took these from was a track frame belonging to Jackie Durand see additional pictures. I've seen several versions of this design, some with the world champions bands possibly in honour of Tom Simpson? In this case, I have included both designs, you chose! This process can be seen in the Bertins of the s. The period was one of tremendous market growth in the early 70s and manufacturers simplified the product to speed production and increase profitability. The process was most noticeable in the lower price points where margins were slimmest.

Vitus 979, 971, 983, 980 or 172 decals F & F choice

There is no sharp distinction between late 60s and early s production. Sport and racing Bertins were usually found with the classic vertically stacked seat tube lettering and the foil World Championship stripes as seen in the photograph above. These stripes might also be found on the head tube wrapping around behind the usual Bertin foil headbadge except on smaller sizes.

Frames had the distinctive Made in France yellow riband often on the top tube and the A. Mixte frames got both together on the down tube. In each of these respects the framesets did not differ much from earlier versions of the same model. Touring bicycles received the round Cyclotouriste decal which might be found on any of the three main frame tubes. The example to the right shows on the down tube but other locations would be just as likely.

As the s progressed, Bertin once again began to use the down tube for decal placement. The change was not wholesale and immediate but appears to have occured over time with decal availability. The sample C 37 below illustrates the general appearance of the graphics. Reynolds transfers for French cycle manufacturers were always in French text. This decal set can be found at the Cyclomundo store on Ebay. Many other Bertin cycles in the s were offered with the familiar Vitus Durifort tubing using decals of this type.

The seat tube decal was as shown below and to the right and complimentary decals were found on each fork leg much like the Reynolds transfers on the C There are anomalies in the graphics of Bertins and the frameset shown below is one of them. Otherwise, the decals appear similar to the yellow C 37 seen above. Decals seen on mixtes and non-sports bicycles varied slightly to accomodate structural differences like tubing locations and angles.

Some bikes kept the early 60s pattern of tricolour band on the seat tube even as the Bertin brand moved foward into the s. I have up dated wheels, brakes, etc. It did not have any useable decal. I just had it painted and I am looking to replace decals. Is there somewhere wher these can be obtained? They still have the art work and may be willing to prepare another set for you.

Galaxy Headquarters. Made with in Austin, TX.Hello Peter, i own a Vitus with the three on top tube brake cable clips and the "Vitus " engraved on the fork blades.

Restoration Decals Kit for VITUS 979 and 992 Frame Fork Stickers Set

What i am courios about is the serial number: It is "" on the middle of the bottom bracket shell, near the down tube and not at its side edge, with no preceding charakter like "A", "E" or "F". I think that it is a real early one, but how early? To me the serial seems to be like for prototype or pre-series models!

Could you help me identifying the year of manufacture? Kind regards Nick from Germany. All of these seem to date from and have the top tube clips, French threading and the bb is threaded not camferred for the later Mavic threadless bbengraved Vitus on the fork blades and the earlier bb molded cable guide not the nylon one.

I've been looking for one of these in 59 cm for two years no with hopes of building it up with the first generation Tout Mavic components Hello Peter, thank you so much for your thoughts and the informations. I just contacted Vitus but i am of no great hope. As far as i know the company is not the same than in those years of "". I found my frame in an german race bicycle forum and i was lucky that it matched the correct size for me, because it's 58cm. There are no decals left on the frame except three decals of Campagnolo "Prodotti Speciali Campagnolo" on the down tube and the fork blades, so i am thinking about completing it with the classical "Super Record" components.

It has confirmed that I am in possession of what I believe is an original PXDU that I bought a few year ago and am now committed to restoring to original. Or, as close too as possible. What would you suggest for tires to respect the original state of this machine?

Also, I am having a hard time tracking down the original head badge and decals for it. I believe it is a model.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. I could send you some detailed photos if possible? Thanks Tyler. Great article. I have owned many over the years and can contribute a small factoid It seemed that there were two options of fork, certainly later on. A steel steerer or an alloy one. The alloys weigh around g and the steelbut really the steel are better as the alloy ones can shudder and resonate violently under braking.

A second point I can add on the resonance theme is descending on a windy day. I took one up Ventoux and descended on a fairly windy day The frame started to wobble and ' resonate' and just seemed to turn to jelly. I can only explain this being due to your steering and leaning into the wind and the wheels becoming out of line, and then the frame naturally wanting to spring back.

It was a definite and very noticeable symptom and one which I have never felt the like of before on any bike. The alloy ones rarely broke, they were press fit.Free shipping.
